XOLAIR Is the Only FDA-Approved Biologic Drug Specifically Designed
to Treat Allergic Asthma
What Happens During an Allergic Asthma Attack?
How XOLAIR Works
XOLAIR is not used to treat other allergic conditions, acute bronchospasm (an asthma attack) or status asthmaticus (a severe asthma attack requiring immediate medical attention). XOLAIR is the only medication specifically designed to treat moderate to severe persistent allergic asthma in patients 6 years of age and older who are uncontrolled with inhaled corticosteroids. It’s also considered an add-on therapy, meaning your doctor would have you take it with your inhaled corticosteroid.
XOLAIR is not a substitute for the medicines you are already taking. Do not change or stop taking any of your other asthma medicines unless your doctor tells you to do so.
Talk to an asthma specialist, such as an allergist or pulmonologist, about diagnosing and treating allergic asthma. An allergist specializes in diseases of the immune system, including allergic diseases such as allergic asthma, and a pulmonologist specializes in diseases of the lungs and breathing, including asthma.
